Gu NaYoung is a painter and installation artist from South Korea. She is a graduate of Hong-ik University with a B.F.A and M.F.A in Oriental painting. Currently she creates forests using oriental ink and paper to create imaginary ideal landscapes. The trees in her work express emotion and are symbols depicting people and society. Trees are breathing together, just as people should live in harmony with each other. Even the media which she uses (oriental ink and oriental paper) breathe together with the forest as she paints. The process of painting forests comforts and heals her and she expects her work to be healing for others as well. She reminds people that ideal beautiful landscapes already exist inside us.
